The project types vary, but may include the construction of wells, distribution of hygiene supplies, and community gatherings to help spread awareness.

Bringing Clean Water to Life: Transforming Rural Bangladesh with Tube-Wells

Installation of Tube-Wells for Safe Water Access in Rural Bangladesh

Build a Water Project, in collaboration with YPSA (Young Power in Social Action), is initiating a project to install tube wells in the rural area of West Borokul Union, Hajigonj Upazila, under Chandpur District, Bangladesh. The primary aim is to provide safe drinking water to the local population, thereby improving health and hygiene and reducing water-borne diseases.

Main Objectives:

  • Ensure accessible and safe drinking water in the project location.

  • Educate the community on health and hygiene practices to mitigate water-borne diseases.

Results:

  • Installation and renovation of 85 tube-wells (25 new shallow tube wells, 50 renovated shallow tube wells, and 10 deep tube wells).

  • Enhanced knowledge and practices regarding safe water and hygiene among community members.

Sharmin Akter, age 35, is leaving Deveipur, West Borkul
Union of Hajigonj Upazila, Chandpur District of Bangladesh. Her
husband, Rubel Uddin, runs a small tea stall at village market. She
has two children and they struggle to meet the needs of their family.
Due to her financial situation, she could not install tube wells to retrieve safe water for her and her family. Sharmin is now getting clean and safe water at her disposal after the installation of tube wells funded by Build a Water Project. She is beyond relieved to have the necessary facilities to have access to safe water from the installed tube wells.

Mohammad Rajon Miji, is 40 years old and lives with his
family in Miji Bari, Protappur, West Borkul Union of Hajigonj
Upazila, Chandpur District of Bangladesh. He works as a mason and is suffering from limited access to clean water. The installation of tube wells by Build a Water Project helped meet the water needs of several families in their neighborhood. Moreover, he uses the water in his daily work as a mason. He is happy to be getting the clean and safe water through the
installation of tube-wells.
